Esha Gupta
Esha is a multidisciplinary researcher from Mumbai, India with a background in economics, urban policy research, and applied machine learning research. Her experience in urban policy has led her to engage with on-ground beneficiaries and local governments to map socioeconomic lived-realities and policy efficacy. Previously, with the University of Chicago Trust in New Delhi, she worked on mapping and communicating water pollution data across Indian rivers. Through fieldwork, and analysing geospatial and climatic data, she worked on identifying anthropogenic sources of pollution and mapping their movement through rivers. At AIPJ, Esha brings together her background in policy, water research, and applied machine learning to examine water consumption and pollution across the AI supply chain, situating these impacts within broader questions of water governance and their socio-environmental implications.
In her free time, one can find Esha sketching, lifting weights, or trying to befriend the stray cats and dogs in her city.
